Benefits Program Information and Enrollment.
By placing this information on the intranet, employees can locate and print out just the information that interests them. Open enrollment can also be placed online.

Policy and Procedure Manuals.

Besides eliminating lots of paper, it ensures that employees are always looking at the latest information. Also, if something changes which affects lots of employees, simply send a short e-mail message to all employees notifying them of the change. Then, only affected employees can go to the HR page to find out more. This method is less time consuming than writing a long memo to everyone.

Bonus and Compensation Program Information.
Using security access privileges, managers can find out detailed information about special bonus, compensation and incentive plans.

Internal Job Postings.
A great method of disseminating the latest information on new job announcements.

Recruitment Procedures.
An intranet is a wonderful place to file processes and procedures for annual job reviews, job requisitions, employee grievances, promotions and other information related to staffing and recruitment.

Resumes.
After scanning in resumes, why not place them on the HR intranet site? Custom search capabilities can be added so that each resume is easily found. Access privileges ensure that only authorized personnel can view the information.

Employee Updates of Personal Information.

Using intranet database integration techniques, employees can be given direct access to their personal information for editing (password-protected and secure, of course). For example, an employee gets married and may need to change their last name. Or their mailing address changes. Or their emergency phone number changes.

Employee Surveys.
An intranet is a great way to conduct an employee survey of key company issues such as smoking in the workplace, product quality, communication, workplace environment, employee satisfaction, specific suggestions for improvement, etc. Rather than sending the whole survey to everyone via email, send them a short email with the survey page indicated as a link. This way, employees who are interested in filling out the survey are only a click away from the survey page.

Organization Charts.
These charts can often change. Why not place them on the intranet so that the latest charts are always available to everyone? Photos of employees can easily be added.

Forms.

Contact Information.
By posting the names (and even photos), responsibilities, and phone numbers of HR personnel, employees can streamline their search for the right person to solve their problem.

Employee Records.
Using security access procedures, authorized HR staff can have ready access to employee records, including salary histories, reviews and hiring information.

401(k) Plans.
Provide real-time access to employees for reviewing and enrolling in corporate 401(k) plans.
