The Nevada Festival Ballet is so successful, largely due to it's incomparable faculty. NFB's excellent staff is known from State, to Nation-wide.
Resident Faculty
Margaret "Maggie" Banks... Founder/Artistic Derector. Born in Vancouver, BC, Maggie Banks won a full scholarship to what is now the Royal Ballet School in London at age 12. She joined the American Ballet Theatre in New York at age 14, and became a soloist and principal dancer. She also performed leading roles with Ballet Russe. In Hollywood, she became Assistant Choreographer to Gene Kelly and worked with, among others, Fred Astaire, Shirley MacLaine, Ann-Margaret, and Juliet Prowse and noted choreographers including Hermes Pan. She was Assistant to Jerome Robbins on the Academy-Award winning West Side Story and co-choreographed the Andy Williams Show for television. She has been entered into the Nevada Women's Hall of Fame, awarded the Governor's Award for Dance by the NSCA and continues to receive critical acclaim for her choreography.
Victoria Iantchouk... graduated from Kiev State Classical Ballet Academy in 1982 with a Diploma of Degree in Classical Ballet and Fine Arts. She performed with the Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet, and in 1983 joined the Vadim Pisarev Russian Ballet as a soloist. During the period of 1988-1992, Ms. Iantchouk toured with the Vadim Pisarev Ballet in Europe and the US, sponsored by Mikhail Baryshnikov and Howard Gillman. Her repertoire includes Swan Lake, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Spartacus, Sleeping Beauty, Dying Swan, Romeo and Juliet and Le Corsaire. She has taught at the State Classical Ballet School (Ukraine), the National Ballet School of New Jersey and the Russian Ballet Theater of Delaware. Since 1991, Ms. Iantchouk has lived in Reno, Nevada and performs as a Guest Artist with the New Jersey Ballet, Miami Ballet and Russian Ballet Theater of Delaware.
Le Nugyen... began her training at the State College of Ballet and Choreography in Hanoi, Vietnam. In 1984, after winning a national ballet competition, she received a scholarship to the Russian Classical Ballet Academy in Kiev, Ukraine. Her professional career began with the Danyesk Ukraine Dance Company in 1992, and since then has included the Nataly Dance Company of Moscow, the Bolshoi Ballet and the Long Island Ballet Company. She has also toured as a soloist in the International Arts Group in Brazil. Ms. Nugyen has taught classical ballet in Brazil at the Nova Danca Ballet for Advanced Students, the Garina Ballet School, and Elisa Ballet, as well as for the Long Island Ballet Company. She has performed as a soloist in classics such as Don Quixote, Cinderella, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Giselle, Paquita and The Nutcracker. In addition to her many wonderful accomplishments in dance, Ms. Nugyen speaks Vietnamese, Russian, Portuguese and English.
Delores Ondrejcek... Born in New Jersey, Miss Ondrejcek received her dance training with major proffessional companies and schools in Jew York City. She danced in many operas at the Metropolitan, toured with the National Company of My Fair Lady, and had principal roles in New York productions of Broadway shows. Her credits include concerts, night clubs, films and television. As an assistant to Maggie Banks and a principal dancer with NFB and Nevada Opera, she has danced major roles. In addition to her outstanding background in ballet, modern and jazz dance, character and flamenco, she is an accomplished choreographer.
Julie Simpson... Ms. Simpson is an accomplished dancer and is currently a faculty member at NFB School. She studied jazz extensively with Delores Terry at the Dupre Dance Academy and Steven Peck Dance Studio. She was also the recipient of two scholarships for Craft of Choreography. Her proffessioal credits include Vegas Flash in Japan, Fabulous Follies, produced by Greg Thompson, lead dancer for Terry Productions International in Japan, and Hello Hollywood, Hello! in Reno. She also has an extensive background in ballet and was understudy for principle roles at the La Scala Ballet in Barcelona, Spain. Ms. Simpson recently graduated from UNR with a degree in English Literature; she is currently working on a second degree in design..
Sara Bogard... has enjoyed an extensive career as a dancer, teacher and choreographer. She possesses her BA in Dramatic Art/ Dance and her MFA in Modern Dance. She has studied modern, ballet, ethnic/ jazz, and composition with some of the dance world's finest teachers/ choreographers, including David Howard, Merce Cunningham, Bella Lewitsky, Lula Washington and Maggie Banks. She possesses extensive teaching credentials including residencies, and has receivd numerous awards and grants. She is currently Artistic Director of her own Company, Wing and a Prayer.
Mig O'Hara... is an accomplished dancer, singer, actress and acrobat, with a wide range of experience on the stage and screen. She received her training in tap, ballet, jazz and modern and has also studied gymnastics. She has performed in performance theatre hits such as The Wizard, Pizzazz, Splash and Hot, Hot, Hot. Ms. O'Hara has also performed the principal role of the Russian in NFB's Nutcracker. She has starred in many television shows, including Miami Vice, and has also been filmed in numerous commercials.
Kelli Springer Campbell... Ms. Campbell is a native Nevadan who began her dance training with Daphne Baker and, at age ten, Maggie Banks. She spent summers studying at San Francisco Ballet School and Ballet West. She has received degrees in both Legal Studies and Dance from Dominican College in San Rafael. She trained extensively at the Marin Ballet School. Ms. Campbell's instructors include some of the finest in the dance world: Maria Vegh Lew and Harold Christensen, Alexandra Danilova and, Alonzo King, Jocelyn Vollmar and NFB's Maggie Banks and Cheryl Bruce. Her performing experience covers a wide-range of artistic areas: opera, jazz, character and modern dance with a strong emphasis on Graham technique. She has danced principal roles in NFB's productions of the Nutcracker and Cinderella.
